- Should I embed the ICC color profile in my image?
- Yes, it is important to embed the sRGB color profile with the image before submitting it for print. This is generally done automatically by the camera, so you will most likely not have to do anything special before submitting your images.
- How do I send my event images to PWD?
- You may send in images via web upload, FTP upload, or by mailing discs to our office.
Instructions:
- With the appropriate event selected, choose "Send/Add Event Images" from the Events menu.
- Select your delivery method (web upload, FTP, or DVD by mail).
- Enter the number of images/discs you will send (so we know when we've received them all).
- Choose the service you would like:
- No Post-Processing Services - Choose this if you require no post-processing services. Your images will go straight to your event when we receive them.
- Post-Processing Services - Choose this option if you want us to handle the post-processing of your images. You can pick and choose the options you desire.
- Click "Process Order" to proceed, then follow the instructions for delivering your images via the method you selected.
- What post-processing services do you offer?
- Please see the Post-Processing Services section of the FAQ for information on this.
- What file formats do you accept?
- We accept RAW and JPEG files. JPEG files can be uploaded through the website, via FTP or sent on a disc. RAW files can only be sent on on a disc.
- Can I send RAW image files?
- Yes. We offer RAW image conversion and post-processing. Due to the their large file sizes, we ask that you mail your RAW images on disc rather than upload them.
- What is the difference between the web upload option and the FTP upload option?
- We only recommend the web upload for smaller batches of images. It allows you the convenience of uploading directly from our web site, but this is a slower option than FTP. The FTP upload option is faster and more secure. For RAW images and very large batches, we recommend mailing the images to us on a disc.
- How do I know when my images have been received and processed?
- You will receive an email once your images have been received. You will receive another email once your images are processed and ready for you to view online.
- Can I send more images for an event after sending the first batch?
- Yes. We can always accept and add more images to your events.
- Do my image files need to be saved in a particular color space?
- Images should use the sRGB color space for maximum compatibility with our printers. Most cameras will default to this color space, so you should not have to take any extra steps before sending your images in.
- Should I resize my image files prior to upload?
- It is not necessary to resize image files prior to upload. Please note that all print orders will be center-cropped unless noted otherwise, though you will have the opportunity to manually crop your images online before ordering.
- Should I rename my images prior to upload?
- It is not required. For post-processing services, our editors will sort the submitted images either by name or date/time stamp based on your specifications. If you choose to not rename your images prior to upload, PWD strongly recommends time-synching all camera bodies used for a shoot. For more information on how to do this, please reference your camera's instructional manual. Also, the images will be renamed sequentially for easy referencing once the event is released to the event owner.
Note: Please do not use any special characters (#, ?, !, etc.) in your file names. - What do you do with the image disc I send you after you've finished processing the images?
- We will keep your image discs for a period of one month, after which time we will shred the discs for your security and privacy.
