Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Editing large sets of images. Editing process involves reviewing large amount of
digital images and discarding of bad images
- Converting RAW images into JPEG or other formats
- Performing basic tonal and color optimization using Photoshop, Aperture or other
programs
- Performing advanced tonal, color and creative adjustments, as required
- Retouching images using Photoshop , as required
- Preparing master images for output and performing digital output processing
- Creating digital products such as image CD/DVD and video montage
- Answer clients’ inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve
problems
- May be required to learn and assist in performing other digital workflow tasks
Technical Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic knowledge of digital photography
- Know how to download images from a digital camera media to a PC or a Mac
- Knowledge of Apple Aperture is not required but is an advantage
- Good knowledge of optimization of images with Photoshop CS including the following:
rotating, cropping, adjustment layers, levels, histograms, tonal and color adjustments
- Extensive knowledge of both PC and Mac systems. Must be extremely familiar with
Windows XP and Mac OS X
Abilities and Skills Required:
- Visual Color Discrimination — The ability to match or detect differences between
colors, including shades of color and brightness
- Attention to detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing
work
- Oral Expression — The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will
understand
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships
with colleagues and clients
- Positive attitude about new and upcoming technologies and products as they apply
to editing and digital workflow
- Job requires being honest and ethical
- Job requires meeting predefined quality standards and performance measurement criteria
- Fluent in the English language
Work Habit Required:
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Must be willing to work overtime
- Keep work area neat and orderly
- Ability to manage workflow
- Must be willing to attend professional workshops. This may require traveling once
or twice a year.
Experience Required:
-
Minimum one year of photo editing at a daily or weekly newspaper, magazine, website or photography studio OR
-
Minimum two years of being a wedding photographer
Education Required:
- A high school diploma
- Vocational on the job training or professional courses on the required technical
skills and knowledge for this position
- A bachelor’s degree in photography, digital media or graphic design is an advantage
